Tim Allen plays Scott Calvin; an executive at a large toy company. On Christmas Eve Scott has his custody of his son Charlie Calvin (Eric Lloyd). After reading him a Christmas story before bed, Charlie wakes him up because there was a clatter on the roof; Scott and Charlie trek outside to find Santa Claus on the roof. One thing leads to another and after Santa falls off the roof, Scott Calvin must take the new role as Santa Claus.<\/p>\n<p>The movie is full of funny jokes and moments that satisfy both young and old viewers alike. At the time, Tim Allen was all over: while The Santa Clause held the number one box office spot, and his show \u201cHome Improvement\u201d was the number one rated TV program; all while his book, \u201cDon\u2019t Stand Too Close to a Naked Man\u201d, was the number one New York Times Best Selling.<\/p>\n<p>Growing up this movie was a must-watch during the holidays and to this day references such as \u201cand that is why you should have a high power fire extinguisher\u201d are frequent. The concept of taking on the mantel of Santa Claus when Santa dies is also something that doesn\u2019t get nearly enough credit. Between this movie and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Tim Allen is on the TV constantly starting on December 1st. So this holiday season, if you haven\u2019t already, go rent or buy the movie and give it a watch with your family and with that being said \u201cMerry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
