Here<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The following is from a journal discovered in an abandoned home, 3 years after a zombie hoard took over Savannah. \u00a0The author remains\u00a0unknown.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re good on food, for once.\u00a0 We set up camp fire out by the pool and have been taking turns.\u00a0 Production Assistant Leon is a good cook.\u00a0 I know it\u2019s all just from a can, and we don\u2019t really have any seasoning, but I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 It\u2019s just better when he cooks.<\/p>\n<p>The DJs staying at the station decided to leave.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t blame them.\u00a0 They packed up and said goodbye.\u00a0 I hope they\u2019re doing well.\u00a0 They were scrappy freshman.\u00a0 They probably are.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been quiet\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I hung the flag back up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>II.<\/p>\n<p>Every now and then we hear bird calls from the parking garage.\u00a0 We want to respond, but none of us know how to call back.\u00a0 We know morse code, though.\u00a0 One night, we asked Bird Up if they were okay.\u00a0 They said they were.\u00a0 It\u2019s good to know.<\/p>\n<p>We lost power today.\u00a0 I\u2019m surprised it lasted us this long.\u00a0 Web Guy Antony said that it\u2019s the perfect opportunity to have the coffee creamer.\u00a0 None of us wanted it.\u00a0 But he enjoyed it.\u00a0 I guess that\u2019s what matters.<\/p>\n<p>Ashton said that there\u2019s no way we could get our broadcast working, now.\u00a0 But maybe we could find some place that could.\u00a0 I know we can\u2019t stay at the station forever, but we don\u2019t know what lies beyond it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>III.<\/p>\n<p>Leon went outside to check on the gate and came back with a dog.\u00a0 He said saw him wandering by the pizza place across the street.\u00a0 It\u2019s a Pomeranian.\u00a0 We think he\u2019s purebred, but none of us are authorities on dogs.\u00a0 He had no tags, so decided to name him after our number one fan on SoundCloud, Garret the Bot.\u00a0 Leon said that sounded great.\u00a0 I agree with him.<\/p>\n<p>We gave Garret the Bot the toy minion we had laying around the station.\u00a0 He loves the thing.\u00a0 Carries it everywhere he goes.\u00a0 It\u2019s half his size, but he doesn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n<p>We started playing fetch with him, or as best as he could play fetch.\u00a0 We\u2019d stand outside by the pool and toss the minion.\u00a0 He\u2019d pick it up, bring it back to us, but lay down.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t understand.\u00a0 A lot of small dogs don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>But he really likes to chase birds.\u00a0 He\u2019s fast for his size.\u00a0 We\u2019ll be outside, checking on the gate and we\u2019d see a small ball of fur zip pass us after a bird.\u00a0 He yaps too.\u00a0 We could do without that.\u00a0 But things have been so grim around here, that we\u2019re not complaining.\u00a0 He\u2019s a good dog for the most part.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IV.<\/p>\n<p>We found a dorm that was left unlocked.\u00a0 We took some books, ramen, pillows.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t take everything partly because it felt weird, but also because we don\u2019t have much space in the station.\u00a0 We\u2019ll go back as needed.\u00a0 We took the comforter though, and a blanket for Garret the Bot.\u00a0 We bunched it up so he could have a place to sleep in the attic with us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>V.<\/p>\n<p>I haven\u2019t been able to write all day.\u00a0 A lot had happened.<\/p>\n<p>We were outside trying to play fetch with Garett when he got loose.\u00a0 He saw a bird and went after it when we weren\u2019t looking.\u00a0 Jacob found a small gap in the fence that he must\u2019ve slipped through.\u00a0 He focused on patching the hole while we talked about what we should do.<\/p>\n<p>Ashton said that it wasn\u2019t worth the risk to go after Garett.\u00a0 He was right.\u00a0 Even though we all loved the dog, it was too risky to go after him.\u00a0 But Music Director Gabrielle and her assistant Olivia wanted to, as well as Leon and Video Editor Cole.\u00a0 Antony was still asleep in the attic at the time.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t think to wake him up.<\/p>\n<p>When Jacob returned, he said that he wanted to go after Garett too.\u00a0 So it was decided then.\u00a0 We took the last trolley across the street.\u00a0 It would be easier than on foot.<br \/>\nWith Ashton driving, we left the station in search of Garett the Bot.\u00a0 We were about to head down Broughton when Jacob remembered he didn\u2019t have his camera.\u00a0 He wanted to turn back, said that this would be good for the movie.\u00a0 We refused, so he sulked in the back for a fifteen minutes.\u00a0 We stopped trying to talk to Jacob about the movie.\u00a0 Every time, he\u2019d just say, \u201cYou know.\u00a0 It\u2019s a movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was the first time any of us had been downtown since it all began.\u00a0 Broughton was a mess.\u00a0 There was broken glass, clothes and furniture spilling from the window.\u00a0 A few zombies shuffled down the street.\u00a0 We were able to take care of the ones that approached the trolley, but not many tried.<\/p>\n<p>Down Bull was an old building with a tall, intimidating fence.\u00a0 A large American flag hung from one of the windows.\u00a0 The trolley slowed to an unwanted stop.\u00a0 Before any of us could check what was wrong, Olivia saw Garett.\u00a0 He was running down the street, after a bird.\u00a0 Without hesitation, Leon nearly leaped out of the trolley in pursuit of Garett.\u00a0 The two turned the corner and disappeared behind a building.<\/p>\n<p>Within seconds, Leon was running back with Garett the Bot under his arm.\u00a0 He was yelling at us to start the trolley.\u00a0 A hoard of zombies appeared behind him, catching up.\u00a0 The trolley wasn\u2019t cooperating.\u00a0 Ashton tried and tried as Leon got closer, but the thing wouldn\u2019t start.<\/p>\n<p>Leon leapt back into the trolley with a panting Garett.\u00a0 Gabrielle shut the door behind him as the hoard closed in on us, banging on the side, prying at the door.\u00a0 Leon set Garret down who ran towards Olivia, as he leaned up against the door to keep it from opening.\u00a0 Jacob, Cole and I managed to shove some way from the windows, but they were getting too close.\u00a0 There were too many.\u00a0 Clawing at us, snapping at us.\u00a0 The trolley finally started and Ashton pulled away from the hoard as fast as it could go\u2026 which wasn\u2019t that fast, but it was enough.<\/p>\n<p>We all fell back into our seats as we drove down Broughton.\u00a0 The hoard began to chase us, but a loud bang in the distance distracted them.\u00a0 They turned and headed in that direction while we got away.<\/p>\n<p>Garett was unfazed.\u00a0 He jumped off from Olivia\u2019s lap and into an open seat, leaning out the window the way dogs do.<\/p>\n<p>Half way down MLK, the trolley began to slow to a full stop.\u00a0 We could see the station from where we were. \u00a0 We could easily walk it, but we saw a hoard gathering across the street.\u00a0 We had to be quick.<\/p>\n<p>We hopped out of the trolley.\u00a0 I held Garret under my arm as we made our way down the street, trying to move fast, but remain under the hoard\u2019s radar.<\/p>\n<p>I could hear them from across the street.\u00a0 They sounded awful, snarling.\u00a0 I turned and saw them move in our direction.\u00a0 They were slow at first, but they picked up.\u00a0 Soon we were running, booking it down the hill and towards the station.\u00a0 Garret squirmed under my arm, uncomfortable.\u00a0 But we were so close.\u00a0 One of them tried to reach towards me.\u00a0 I felt it grab my shirt, but Jacob grabbed my hand and pulled me faster, out of its grasp.<\/p>\n<p>We made it to the station, securing the gate behind us just in time.\u00a0 The hoard piled up outside of it, banging, sticking their arms through the bars and trying to grab at us.<\/p>\n<p>We piled inside, out of breath, exhausted.\u00a0 I sat Garett down and he ran straight for his minion.\u00a0 I sat on the ground, laid on the cool tile.<\/p>\n<p>We heard Antony yell where were we from upstairs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Miss Part One?
