Previous albums from the Chicago rapper have gotten progressively better and better, with <em>Eden <\/em>breaking even more new ground. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One look at the song titled \u201cGarfield\u201d and anyone familiar with Elizabeth Harris\u2019 prior work immediately knew she\u2019d be punning a certain female genitalia and the cartoon cat. The track starts with her meowing seductively, teasing \u201cHere kitty, kitty\u201d. Before long, she\u2019s already facetiously painting imagery with lines <em>far<\/em> too inappropriate to cite in this review (and we <a href=\"https:\/\/scadradio.org\/2018\/09\/24\/straight-outta-compton-celebrates-30-years\/\">reviewed <em>Straight Outta Compton<\/em><\/a> with lyric citing). For those who crank CupcakKe for her signature raunch, this is likely to be their favorite track. One thing about <em>Eden<\/em>, though, is the plethora of songs fans with a dirty sense of humor will find entertaining. \u201cTypo\u201d is another, with a hook chant that doesn\u2019t wholeheartedly make a ton of sense, but still cracks a laugh. \u201cBlackjack\u201d (along with its borderline-pornographic music video) is also ripe to fit right into the CupcakKe zeitgeist.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While CupcakKe is famous for her over the top debauchery, she\u2019s been known for more serious tunes as well. \u201cCereal and Water\u201d phenomenally bashes the flawed parenting styles of materialistic and uncaring caregivers. It proves yet again the rapper\u2019s rapid-fire range can go beyond her bedroom happenings. \u201cA.U.T.I.S.M.\u201d is a cute closer threatening anyone who makes fun of people with the disease. The often comedic sexual lyrics take a more solemn turn on \u201cDangled\u201d. Versatility reigns supreme with \u201cCereal and Water\u201d stealing the spotlight on the LP.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Including January\u2019s <em>Ephorize<\/em>, <em>Eden<\/em> is her fourth LP, and arguably the naughtiest release of the young star\u2019s career. Those who thought this year\u2019s other release was lacking in X-rated songs will be relieved to hear to the rapper\u2019s hysterical innuendos on every other track. The savvy one-liners are more prevalent and quotable than ever like \u201cStill want more, Tic-tac-toe\/ Ni**a just got three holes in a row\u201d on \u201cBlackjack\u201d. While the production hasn\u2019t varied much throughout her career, listening to CupcakKe for the beat sounds is the equivalent of playing <em>Fortnite<\/em> for that co-op survival mode. Her magnetic flow improves with each release, and it\u2019s currently at its best on<em> Eden<\/em>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some people listen to music to relax and unwind. Others listen to CupcakKe. It\u2019s because of her one-of-a-kind style that the Chicago MC hasn\u2019t caught a larger audience, but <em>Eden<\/em> proves the 21-year-old has been careening towards the prime of her career.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCAD Radio gives the album an 8.5\/10.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On her second LP of 2018, CupcakKe offers a second helping of her trademark sexual licentiousness, while at the same time dishing her distaste on more serious issues.
