One of Georgia\u2019s biggest music festivals, Shaky Knees\nFestival, kicks off today, Friday, May 3, 2019! Shaky Knees is a rock-centered\nfestival that started in 2013. Each year, they feature over 60 diverse bands! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those attending the following 3 full days of music and\nfun, I\u2019m going to do my best to familiarize you with some headliners and some\nup-and-comers playing at Atlanta\u2019s 7th<\/sup> Shaky Knees Festival! The\nlist may be on the longer side, but if you\u2019re not sure exactly where to go when\nyou\u2019re not seeing the 4 bands you came for, keep reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Big Names:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Beck<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Since the\nearly 1990s, Beck has been combining diverse genres to create his own unique\nindependent style. He\u2019s got 2 albums listed on Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s \u201c500 greatest albums of all time\u201d, 2015\u2019s Grammy for Album of the Year, and a\nnew single, \u201cSaw Lightning\u201d, co-produced with Pharrell Williams. Look out for\nhis performance this Friday and new album Hyperspace<\/em>\nthis summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Incubus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Originally\nfrom California, this band has been traveling the world since 1991! Famous for\ntheir alternative rock music, Incubus is going to be so much fun to see live at\nShaky Knees. Their last album, 8<\/em>, saw\na world tour in 2017, and we can\u2019t wait to see them Friday, right here in\nGeorgia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Cage the Elephant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There\u2019s\njust isn\u2019t an alt. rock fan or former emo middle schooler who doesn\u2019t know all\nthe words to Cage the Elephant\u2019s song \u201cAin\u2019t No Rest for the Wicked\u201d. Although\nthey\u2019ve only been around since 2006, Cage the Elephant have made a huge name\nfor themselves. Their latest album Social\nCues<\/em> dropped on April 19th<\/sup> of this year, and I don\u2019t know about\nyou, but they\u2019re one of the bands I\u2019m most excited to see on Saturday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tame Impala<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n All the way\nfrom Australia and first conceived in 2007, Tame Impala is the youngest headlining\nband on the Shaky Knees lineup! In 2012, their album Lonerism<\/em> was nominated for the Grammy\u2019s Best Alternative Music\nAlbum, and more recently they\u2019re currently teasing their 4th<\/sup> album\nwith featured songs \u201cPatience\u201d and \u201cBorderline\u201d. Catch them with us, Sunday\nNight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Familiar Artists You\u2019ve Heard Here on SCAD Radio:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019ve been playing these artists throughout the past few\nyears, so you know they\u2019ve got a special place in our hearts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tash Sultana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This\nAustralian \u201cone-person band\u201d has been active on Bandcamp since 2013 and in\n2017, headlined a sold-out world tour! Be sure to check out the 2019 song\n\u201cCan\u2019t Buy Happiness\u201d this Friday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Foxing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In my household,\nwe love a band formed in my Mom\u2019s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri! Foxing gives\nus plenty to love with their indie rock style and most recent album Nearer My God<\/em>. Catch them Friday at\nShaky Knees Festival!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Interpol<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At SCAD\nRadio, we\u2019re very excited to see Interpol because their 2019 song \u201cFine Mess\u201d\nis playing on our current rotation! You can see them this Saturday, and don\u2019t\nmiss their upcoming EP A Fine Mess<\/em>,\ncomprised of some songs written and recorded for their previous album, on May\n17th<\/sup>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Soccer Mommy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Soccer\nMommy, or Sophie Allison, is definitely a recurring artist on SCAD Radio. We\nlove when she releases new music almost as much as we love when she comes to\ntown! You can listen to her newest song \u201cBe Seeing You\u201d when she performs on\nSaturday, or right here on SCAD Radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maggie Rogers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I\npersonally love a great pop song and if you do too, Maggie Rogers is your girl.\nHer latest album Heard It In a Past Life<\/em>\nis fantastic and she\u2019s a must-see for me this Sunday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Phosphorescent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Matthew\nHouck has been performing under this name since 2001 and we can\u2019t get enough of\nhim\u2014it\u2019s only partially because he started in Athens, GA. See him back in the\narea in Atlanta this Sunday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Deerhunter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking of\nlocals, Deerhunter formed IN Atlanta and they\u2019re back for Shaky Knees Festival\n2019! You can hear quite a few songs from their latest (eighth) album Why Hasn\u2019t Everything Already Disappeared?<\/em>\non SCAD Radio. We\u2019ll be kickin\u2019 it at their Sunday performance, so you should\nbe, too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Calpurnia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Known to\nmany people as Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger\nThings<\/em>)\u2019s band, Calpurnia is an awesome up-and-coming alt. rock band. They\nformed recently in 2017, but their 2018 album Scout<\/em> makes us hope they\u2019ll be around for much longer. Although we\ncan\u2019t wait for new music, we\u2019ll settle for seeing them this Sunday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Nude Party<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Perhaps the\nleast well-known of this list, The Nude Party is a North Carolina band with a\n60\u2019s vibe and a cheeky, fun rock sound. Don\u2019t miss them this Sunday! <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our must-sees:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I know this list is getting long, so let me wrap it up with\na few artists that I personally wouldn\u2019t miss for the world, and you shouldn\u2019t\neither.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tears for Fears<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You know\nthem for their Billboard Hot 100<\/em> #1 hits \u201cShout\u201d and \u201cEverybody Wants to Rule\nthe World\u201d, and the nostalgia is still strong with this one. They\u2019ve got almost\n4 decades of experience and are playing Friday night at Shaky Knees Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dashboard\nConfessional<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Okay, I was\nemo. I still consider myself emo, on the inside. Dashboard Confessional? Emo.\nBut if you\u2019re at art school with me, you probably had an emo phase yourself so\nyou know Dashboard Confessional is a must-see band. I\u2019ll be there on Friday and\nlet\u2019s face it, so will you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
